Goldilocks Appears in August Jobs Report. Expectations were for 298 thousand new jobs, so the actual increase was just above expectations but trailed July’s 526 thousand new jobs. So, of the 783 thousand new entrants to the labor market in August nearly half were still looking for a job during the mid-month survey.

Strong Job Growth Continues and Wage Gains Accelerate. Expectations were for 250 thousand jobs and the increase was well above June’s 398 thousand new jobs. Those categories have been the leaders in job creation for several months now. It’s the highest monthly gain since February’s 714 thousand print.
