If bankers tell me their institution has a superior brand, I want to know what that means. Too often I am told that the FI has a superior brand because customers come up to senior executives and board members on the street and tell them so. Is this our perception of brand leadership? Brand, brand, and brand.

I ask and ask and ask: what does brand get you? Forbes calculated brand value in their " World's Most Valuable Brands " by taking anything that a company achieves over an 8% return on equity. Driving ROE higher, but hardly due to its brand. A superior brand usually would command superior price points. i.e. brand.
