Getting its branch operations, mobile product management, IT and LOB leadership aligned represents real commitment to innovation. In my view, the most impressive aspect of this initiative isn’t so much Citi’s pushing the technology envelope; it’s the organizational effort that was likely required.

A great example included a tablet credit card origination app with instant approval, virtual card assistance, and (now in pilot) drivers-license optical character recognition to streamline input with initial results of 50% improvement in app/close rate. The big theme was branch of the future. Maybe this was as it should have been.
