For the non-exited companies — Robinhood, Acorns, Stash, and Credit Karma — we looked at which apps had the highest rates of user growth and what’s driving expansion. The more people you refer, the faster you move up. Allowing users to “cut” by referring other users was an innovative idea, and it worked.
