Thales eSecurity and Networld Media Group will host the 2018 FinServ Data Security Summit in Boston on Thursday, Nov. 15. CISOs will receive exclusive insights from the Thales Data Threat Report and from IS executives who have headed up major digital transformation initiatives for their financial institutions.

Industry leaders in attendance will get a first look at exclusive insights from the Thales Financial Industry Data Threat Report.

Digital transformation initiatives are top of mind for banking executives. With increasing competition from fintechs and emerging digital banks, traditional institutions are shifting investments from branch operations to digital initiatives.

Mobile payment adoption is growing, with 93 percent of financial industry executives citing this initiative as a top priority. Another 93 percent are exploring the use of blockchain technologies for financial transaction records, customer data protection and user authentication, IoT, artificial intelligence, containers and big data.

CISOs and other information security leaders face new pressures with the swift implementation of new digital initiatives, cloud-based banking and ever-increasing data security compliance regulations. For example, mobile payment strategies bring about new risks for IS leaders, including new account fraud, weak authentication and exposure of payment card information.

Hear from IS leaders representing forward-thinking financial institutions

Executives will meet to discuss the increased risks to data at the 2018 Financial Services Data Security Summit in Boston on Thursday, Nov. 15. Data protection leaders from some of the most agile banking institutions will share their firsthand experience at the half-day summit.

Joe Mancini, vice president of information security at Radius Bank, will participate on the Compliance Regulations & Customers’ Expectation of Privacy panel. Mancini brings valuable insights from his work protecting data through one of the most aggressive digital transformation initiatives in the industry.

"We transitioned from a regional bank with several branches to a digital-only bank now serving customers in all 50 states," Mancini said.

Rather than building branches on every corner, the Radius Bank executive team opted to provide easier access and a better digital experience to its customers. Without proper IS infrastructure to support these initiatives, there were risks of also creating easier access for cybersecurity criminals.

Mancini will share his strategy for adhering to compliance regulations, customers’ expectations for data privacy and the steps his team took to adequately encrypt sensitive data.

In another session, industry leaders will address the growing interest in blockchain applications and the risks associated with these initiatives. Panelists will uncover the benefits — along with data breach risks, controlled data access strategies and other data protection strategies.

Registration for the Financial Services Data Security Summit is now open and the complete summit agenda is now available.
