Consumer download, use of mobile banking apps booms in 2015

Malauzai Software says its client banks saw an average expansion of more than 30 percent in active mobile banking users last year.

Malauzai Software, a provider of mobile and Internet banking SmartApps for community financial institutions, closed out 2015 with a record number of FIs using its mobile banking solutions — and with more consumers downloading and using their bank's app.

A Malauzai press release offered up these numbers:

  • the number of FIs using the Malauzai solution across consumer, business and employee-facing applications by year-end topped 400; and
  • total end-user downloads of Malauzai's mobile banking SmartApps in Google Play and the Apple App Store surpassed one million;
  • overall, Malauzai saw an average expansion of more than 30 percent in active mobile banking users.

The company said that an increasing number of banks and credit unions are deploying more than one Malauzai solution, which allows them to provide a more uniform omnichannel experience — and realize cost savings at the same time.

"The most exciting development in 2015 was cross-channel analysis," said Malauzai Chief Product Officer Robb Gaynor. "We are now able to study and compare consumer or businesses behavior on mobile and Internet. The insights we are gaining are huge and are helping to drive the direction of future roadmap plans."
