In the intense tug of war in which brands engage for the love and loyalty of consumers, matters get rather more serious when discussing the austere nature of the banking hierarchy.

While the pecking order of big banks and their competitors is clear enough in PYMNTS latest Provider Ranking of Credit Card Apps, there are subtle changes this time that hint at changes yet to come as banking apps vie for the newly-minted digital-first consumer.

The Top 5

All’s quiet on the financial front, as we augured, with big banks and creditable card brands holding down chart positions in the Top 5 for another month of app measurements.

At No. 1 is Chase Mobile , followed by Capital One Mobile at No. 2, Bank of America Mobile Banking still at No. 3, with Wells Fargo Mobile not moving from its perch at No. 4, nor has Discover Mobile been willing to surrender its position at No. 5, finishing out this Top 5.

The Top 10

In the lower half of the Top 10, we find that the American Express app has gained one spot to grab No. 6 in the latest Provider Ranking of Credit Card Apps, pushing popular Credit One Bank Mobile to No. 7. The MySynchrony app remains steady at No. 8.

A notable change at No. 9 is the Fortiva Account Center app achieving the Top 10 for the first time, leaving the Cards — Mobile Wallet still at No. 10, and completing this app ranking.
