NCUA bans former Pennsylvania credit union employee

The National Credit Union Administration this month banned a former credit union employee from working at any federally insured institution.

Michael Viselli, a former employee of the $72 million-asset Ingersoll-Rand Federal Credit Union in Athens, Pennsylvania, allowed a credit union member to “repeatedly and excessively” overdraft his account by more than $74,000 for more than four months, the NCUA said on Friday.

The credit union ultimately charged off $39,254 of that total as uncollectible, the agency said.

Viselli can no longer participate in any business dealings of an insured depository institution, the NCUA added.

The agency has issued a dozen prohibition orders this year.
