Missouri bank changes name to reflect expanding services, footprint

First Missouri Bank in Brookfield is now Verimore Bank.

The community bank announced the change Monday, saying it rebranded to reflect its efforts to provide an expanding set of products and services to compete with larger financial institutions.

The root words within the name Verimore translate to "truth and trust plus more," the company said. The name change emphasizes the $377 million-asset bank's strategy to provide more digital services to customers in and around Brookfield, as well as its four other northern Missouri locations in Eagleville, Kearney, Milan and North Kansas City.

The newly renamed Verimore Bank serves the Kansas City metropolitan area as well as markets in northern Missouri.

Its offerings for commercial clients include remote deposit, online cash management and payroll direct deposit. For consumers, the bank offers mobile banking, mobile deposit, Apple Pay and Google Pay, among other online banking services.

The new name also reflects that the bank is increasingly serving communities outside of Missouri, the company said, with four of its five branches within 30 miles of neighboring states.

"Our rebranding to Verimore Bank is the result of time spent asking bank customers, employees and community leaders about what we do well, where we can improve, and what sets us apart," Kristie Stuewe, the bank's CEO, said in a press release. "In response to our customer research, changes will be about offering more big-bank capabilities to our commercial, agricultural and household customers, while continuing to deliver on the relationship-driven service they've come to expect."
