Advia Credit Union in Michigan names new CEO

Advia Credit Union in Kalamazoo, Michigan, has promoted Jeff Fielder to be its next president and chief executive.

The $2.8 billion-asset Advia announced that Fielder, who according to his LinkedIn profile joined the credit union in 2007 as an internal auditor and is currently chief financial officer, will succeed longtime president and CEO Cheryl DeBoer effective Oct. 1. DeBoer, who has led the credit union since 2004, will remain with the credit union to assist the transition of roles until her retirement in early 2023.

"Jeff is extremely talented, very knowledgeable and compassionate and is going to be a great next leader for Advia … I'm truly going to miss our team and members, but I feel confident in the next generation of leadership that will continue to grow Advia well into the future," DeBoer said in a press release Monday.

The board of directors at Advia enlisted Jill Nowacki, president and CEO of the consulting group Humanidei, in its executive search process for DeBoer's successor.

"I'm very lucky to have experienced years of mentorship by [DeBoer], and it means everything to me to be part of this team and to now serve as Advia's president and CEO," Fielder said in the release. "Our team focuses on our core values, which includes building and strengthening relationships … I'm very excited about our future, and will continue to drive progress for our membership."
