Central One Federal Credit Union in Massachusetts names new CEO

Central One Federal Credit Union in Shrewsbury, Massachusetts, has named Devon Lyon as its next president and chief executive.

The $738 million-asset credit union announced that Lyon, who is currently the chief operating officer of the $750 million-asset Direct Federal Credit Union in Needham, Massachusetts, will take over for longtime president and CEO David L’Ecuyer in August. L’Ecuyer, who first joined Central One in 1990 as an assistant manager and has led the credit union since his appointment in 1994, announced his plans to retire earlier this year.

“I have seen the positive impact credit unions have made in the lives of their members my entire career … In the current economic environment, it is more important than ever for individuals to choose to bank locally with a credit union,” Lyon said in a press release on Wednesday.

In addition to his leadership roles, Lyon also worked as the director of education for the National Association of Federally Insured Credit Unions from 2015 to 2018, according to his LinkedIn profile.

“The board of Central One is very excited to have a strategic, results-oriented and personable leader like Devon join the organization … His enthusiasm for the industry will help drive Central One forward into the future, and we are looking forward to [him] stepping into this role,” Anthony Pini, chair of Central One’s board of directors, said in the release.
