First Steps with Oracle Health Sciences Clinical One Cloud Service

“A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.”

Lao Tzu, Chinese philosopher

Over the next few months, I am going to learn about Clinical One and what it could do for you. If you are interested in learning more about Oracle Health Sciences Clinical One Cloud Service and how it could change the way clinical research is done, then I encourage you to follow my journey. If you don’t know anything about Clinical One but are involved in the delivery of clinical trials, then I also encourage you to follow my journey. My goal is to share, in a tangible way, what I discover.

The Clinical One platform enables data to be shared across phases and the various functions involved in drug development, as data can be entered once for use in multiple areas, including:

  • Randomization and Supplies Management
  • Data Management
  • Trial Management
  • Safety Case Management and more

This should mean reductions in:

  • Reconciliation
  • Data entry
  • Number of systems to logins to
  • Validations
  • System Integrations
  • Training

The benefit of the Clinical One cloud environment, as stated by Oracle, is that it “changes the way clinical research is done – accelerating all stages of the drug development lifecycle by eliminating redundancies, creating process efficiencies and allowing the sharing of information across functions. The result? A better, faster, more cost-effective way to bring drugs to market to the millions of patients who are waiting with hope.”

This will require us to transform our processes and how systems and departments interact throughout the drug development cycle.

By self-training, exploring the sandbox environment, attending webcasts, and interrogating my Oracle contacts for information, I want to test out these claims and aim to report my findings via this blog on a regular basis.

So far, I have followed some of the online training videos and started to build forms, edit checks, etc. A webcast on Rules, Edits and Validations in Oracle Clinical One this week re-iterated some of the information I have already viewed in the clear and concise training videos. I also heard in the webcast from Oracle that with Clinical One:

  • a study could be built in weeks rather than months (including edit checks)
  • mid-study changes can be made in realtime and deployed in minutes without any cost.

This week is going to be busy, as I am registered to join these online events, focused on Clinical One Data Collection:

  • FierceBiotech virtual series – June 22 @ 11:00am ET – register here
  • PharmaExec/Applied Clinical Trials Webcast – June 23 @ 11:00am ET – register here
  • HSGBU-hosted Customer Webcast – June 24 @ 11:00am ET – register here
  • Clinical Leader Live Fireside Chat – June 30 @ 1:00pm ET – register here

For more details, see:

  • Oracle’s Clinical One Solution Brief here
  • If you want to know what’s in every release and more you can subscribe to Oracle Clinical One Platform and Oracle Clinical One Integration Hub announcements here (TIP: this does not seem to work properly in Internet Explorer)

I look forward to you following my journey to learn more about Clinical One and how it will revolutionize the clinical trial data collection and management process.
