Worldline partners Travelplanbooker.com to support globetrotters

Tuesday 6 June 2023 09:35 CET | News

Global payments services provider Worldline has partnered with online travel agency Travelplanbooker.com to accommodate the needs of globetrotters.

The partnership seeks to facilitate self-reliance for today’s travellers by enabling them to map out and tailor their trips considering their financial resources and desires. The first three years of the partnership are set to integrate Worldline’s payment service into travelplanbooker.com’s platform. The aim is to build a booking engine that provides efficient customer service to travellers.

The backdrop that facilitated this partnership is the resurgent interest in travelling post-pandemic. In the aftermath of the pandemic, a renewed interest in travel surfaced as people from various age groups and backgrounds have acquired an inclination for globe-trotting. As a response to the rise in demand, the travel industry must accommodate the evolving desires of tourists by adopting new payment and booking methods that offer more convenience.

What Worldline and Travelplanbooker.com bring to the table

As a planning and booking platform, Travelplanbooker.com provides travellers with the needed tools to search for and book a complete itinerary. By securing this partnership, the platform will enable its users to solely enter their payment details once through Worldline’s payments solution which is compliant with the Payment Card Industry’s Data Security Standard (PCI DSS)

Even more so, Worldline capitalises on its European presence to provide access to an array of cross-border payment services and payment processing that yield substantial conversion rates.

One important feature of Worldline’s payments solution is its Dynamic Currency Conversion (DCC) which gives users the opportunity to make payments using their currencies.

Moreover, the partnership will provide the online travel agency with access to Worldline’s reporting tool, which allows for better visibility over all transactions made by travellers. As a result, they will be able to automate tasks and decrease the need for manual effort.

The need for seamless payments in the travel industry

The need for seamless payments in the travel industry is directly linked to the payment preferences of travellers. As most consumers are currently using digital wallets and alternative payment methods, they are expected to take these preferences with them when travelling

Following the pandemic, consumer demand for new payment methods that bank on convenience has grown. As research has shown, digital payment adoption levels have seen a rise in demand and adoption all around the world, with Asia in the lead

This change can also be seen in the travelling industry, as with the move towards digitalisation, cash-only destinations are undergoing a transformation. One example in this case is Mexico, a country where cash has been a commonly used payment option. However, with the introduction of the National Financial Inclusion Policy, the shift towards digital payments is clear.
