Wholesale company Metro launches Business Card powered by Mastercard

Wednesday 19 January 2022 12:09 CET | News

Germany-based wholesale company Metro has launched the embedded finance product Metro FS card for the hospitality industry with cooperation partner Mastercard.

The core of the new offer is a “Mastercard Business” debit card, which offers cashback and Buy Now Pay Later (BNPL). The first customers of the card will receive up to 1% cashback on their purchases as part of a campaign. Following this, there is a regular 0.5%, however, all purchases made with the card are rewarded, regardless of the purchase at the Metro.

Additionally, a BNPL function is integrated into the card, allowing Metro’s 2.5 million catering customers to pay the outstanding balance flexibly within 60 days or convert the payment to an instalment purchase. Metro allows up to 48 monthly instalments for each customer. In order to facilitate the usage of the card for customers, there is no need to open an additional account. Users can simply link an existing account to the Metro FS card via open banking.
