Colleagues Pitch in for the Parks

At Perficient, we are committed to giving back to the communities where we live and work. From volunteering at food banks and urban farms, to building homes and saving penguins, our colleagues selflessly give their time to make their communities a better place.

Pitching in for the Parks

Our Chicago colleagues are always looking for ways to contribute to their community. The pandemic has halted many activities, so they wanted to find something safe for all to participate. Living in Chicago, the team is surrounded by hundreds of parks. Throughout the summer the Chicago Parks Foundation has organized volunteers for over 350+ park cleanups. The team thought this would be a great way to make a difference. In late September they gathered a group to clean up the local Garfield Park.

“We’re lucky to have such beautiful parks to enjoy in our city and we want to do what we can to keep them that way.”

They were also able to see coworkers they haven’t seen in person in months. It was a way to both connect and spend time together while also helping their community.

Lend a Helping Hand

Parks are an integral part to every community. They provide a safe space for residents to interact with one another and engage in recreational activities. Parks not only improve our mental and physical health, but the surrounding environment as well. So how can you help both local and national parks?

  • Get involved by joining a local conservation or environmental group
  • Volunteer to participate in park clean-ups like our Chicago team, help with habitat restoration, or even trail maintenance projects.
  • When visiting a park, follow the leave no trace principles
  • Reduce your environmental impact
  • Donate. Many communities have park foundations that you can help provide support to or give to the National Parks Foundation.
