IBM is way past looking for blockchain use cases — it has between 300 and 500 blockchain projects going at the moment, according to CEO Ginni Rometty. In an interview with Bank of America CEO Brian Moynihan (Moynihan interviewed Rometty) Rometty revealed some of the areas where she sees blockchain playing a significant role in financial services: asset trading, including liquid assets such as diamonds; FX settlement; private equity; logistics and shipping; and AML-KYC. IBM does $40 billion in global financing a year, Rometty said, and has some 300 people working on dispute management for these operations.
