Comdata Opens Up Digital Payment Tool To Trucking Businesses

The trucking industry just got a bit more mobile — at least, that’s the position of Comdata.

Comdata, the payment services arm of FLEETCOR, on Thursday (May 24) announced that businesses within the trucking industry can now register for Comchek Mobile. The service enables those operations to “instantly digitize payments for settlement, driver advances, lumpers, repairs and other common over-the-road needs,” Comdata said in a statement.

Comchek Mobile launched in 2017 and serves to digitize “Comdata’s paper Comchek and Express Code payment offering,” the company said. “Using a Comchek Mobile debit card tied to an iOS- or Android-enabled smartphone app, businesses can now instantly send or receive funds from other individuals or businesses within the mobile network.”

Those funds can be used for point-of-sale purchases and ATM withdrawals and can also pay for discounted fuel and hotel rooms via the Comdata Proprietary Network. As well, “a business owner can receive a settlement payment electronically and distribute it quickly to drivers through Comchek Mobile’s peer-to-peer transfer function. Funds are then available for immediate use,” Comdata said.

The service will appeal to such trucking industry participants as brokers, fleet managers and drivers, Comdata said.

Comchek Mobile users have experienced the value of easily and securely receiving funds, managing balances and spending available balances in convenient ways,” said Greg Secord, president of North American Trucking at Comdata. “We’re excited to bring those same benefits to businesses that operate within the trucking industry, which can now easily receive and transfer payments and maintain their valuable business-to-business relationships.”

Earlier this year, FLEETCOR said Comdata would power the Uber Freight Fuel Card, part of the new Uber Freight Plus program, which enables Uber Freight mobile app users to access discounts on fuel, maintenance and tires via a prepaid card or credit card.
