Google AI Tools Target Corporates’ Analog-To-Digital To-Do List

Google has launched a slew of new artificial intelligence (AI) tools that can perform tasks including scanning documents and fielding phone calls.

“Many enterprises see the value in applying AI and machine learning to their business challenges, but not all have the necessary resources to do it,” said Google Cloud Group Product Manager Levent Besik in a blog post, Venture Beat reported. “Businesses need a quick and easy way to bring AI to their organizations, [and] from the beginning, our goal has been to make AI accessible to as many businesses as possible.”

During the Google Cloud Next conference in San Francisco this week, the tech giant revealed Document Understanding AI in beta, which can automatically classify, extract, and structure data within scanned documents. The serverless platform integrates with existing products from Iron Mountain, Box, DocuSign, Egnyte, Taulia, UiPath, Accenture, and more, and Google said customers have reported the tool has 96 percent accuracy.

“Most companies have billions of documents — and moving that information into digital or cloud-native solutions where it can be easily accessed and analyzed can involve many hours of manual entry,” Besik added. “Document Understanding AI can help automate document processing workflows. This means you can … start making data-driven business decisions faster and more accurately.”

In addition, Google’s Contact Center AI is also now in beta, as well as Virtual Agent, Agent Assist, and Topic Modeler. Contact Center AI answers incoming calls, using natural language processing to interact with customers and come up with solutions to common issues. If it cannot solve the problem, it will then pass the caller off to a human agent. Google said 8×8, Avaya, Salesforce, and Accenture are joining Cisco, Five9, Genesys, Mitel, Twilio, and Vonage as Contact Center AI launch partners.

Google is also rolling out Vision Product Search, which uses Cloud Vision technology to allow stores to create Google Lens-type smartphone experiences. And Product Recommendations uses real-time behaviors and dynamic environments (including changes in assortment, pricing, and special offers) for personalized product recommendations.

“Today’s announcements build on our goal of making AI accessible to every business, wherever they may be in their AI journey,” Besik said. “As applied machine learning serves more industries, our goal is to provide more packaged solutions as well as the best-in-class AI tools you need to deploy and customize solutions to suit your business or industry.”
