NCR Acquires Restaurant POS Firm

Payment Technology Company NCR Acquires Texas P.O.S In Bid To Expand

NCR, an Atlanta-based payments technology company, has acquired Texas P.O.S., a Houston-based provider of point-of-sale (POS) solutions for restaurants and merchants, according to a press release.

The move is a bid by NCR to further expand into the hospitality business. The management department of Texas P.O.S. will stay with NCR following the acquisition, and so will the staff, according to the announcement. NCR now has 15 offices in the U.S., and three of those are in Texas.

NCR President and CEO Michael D. Hayford said the acquisition will benefit NCR customers and complement the firm’s services. “Everything we do is guided by our principle to put the customer first. When Texas P.O.S. first discussed the possibility of combining forces in Houston we quickly discovered a team immersed in the local community,” Hayford said. “Our customers in the area will be delighted by the expanded set of services we can provide.”

Texas P.O.S. Founder and President Brian Choate said he is excited to join NCR. “After 26 years of growing this business, I’m proud of what we’ve built here,” he said. “It’s time to take the next step for our customers, and I couldn’t be happier with the partnership and the process.”

NCR has been steadily expanding into the hospitality field. In February, the company announced the acquisition of BEC, a provider of hospitality POS technology, based out of Denver.

In a press release at the time, NCR said the BEC acquisition would complement its existing presence as well as expand its coverage in the western part of the U.S. NCR noted BEC had been an NCR POS reseller for the last 23 years. With the deal, NCR now directly manages more than 2,600 sites including Qdoba, Snooze Eatery and Punch Bowl Social.

NCR noted BEC is now part of 14 NCR local offices which provide NCR Hospitality with the local presence of providers close to the customers.
