Amazon is rolling out new subscriptions for eero, the security service that it acquired last year.

Founded in San Francisco in 2014, eero’s systems blanket every room of a customer’s home using high-performing, reliable Wi-Fi. The system is designed to replace the traditional Wi-Fi router, Wi-Fi connection extender and Internet booster in a two- to four-bedroom home.

Now, a new subscription — eero Secure — is enabling advanced security for every device connected to a home Wi-Fi network, as well as content filtering, ad blocking and insights through eero’s in-app activity center.

“eero Secure is an always-up-to-date security service that protects you and the laptops, phones and smart home devices connected to your eero Wi-Fi networks,” the eCommerce giant explained in a blog post. “Advanced security keeps you from accidentally accessing millions of sites associated with harmful content, like malware, ransomware and phishing attacks.”

In addition, eero Secure+ — previously eero Plus — is still available and includes all eero Secure features combined with a password manager, endpoint antivirus and a VPN.

eero Secure is available for $2.99 per month or $29.99 per year, while eero Secure+ is available for $9.99 per month or $99 per year.

“From the beginning, eero’s mission has been to make the technology in homes just work,” Nick Weaver, co-founder and CEO of eero, said in February when it was announced that Amazon was buying the company. “We started with Wi-Fi because it’s the foundation of the modern home. Every customer deserves reliable and secure Wi-Fi in every room.”

At the time of the acquisition, Dave Limp, SVP of Amazon Devices and Services, said: “We have a shared vision that the smart home experience can get even easier, and we’re committed to continue innovating on behalf of customers.”
