Coronavirus Refunds: United Airlines Reinstates Two-Hour Refund Policy

United Airlines Reinstates Two-Hour Refund Policy

As the coronavirus pandemic continues to disrupt everyday life the world over, many consumers want refunds on things they paid for but aren’t able to use. Airlines are offering refunds for air travel in some cases.

United Airlines is reinstating its old pre-pandemic policy of providing a refund to a traveler’s original form of payment for trips affected by a schedule change of at least two hours, The Points Guy reported. Travelers who were also required to take an electronic travel certificate (ETC) in the past can ask for reimbursements to their original form of payment if their trip was affected by a change of at least two hours and they haven’t cashed in their vouchers.

A representative for the airline said per the report, “We are continually looking at ways to better support our customers, and as part of that effort, we’ve updated our guidelines for handling refunds when our flight schedule changes. We have always provided refunds for refundable tickets, and these updated guidelines will offer additional flexibility to our customers requesting refunds for non-refundable tickets when flight changes occur.”
