Square Integrates Food Delivery Services Into POS

Square For Restaurants Integrates Delivery

Square is releasing new order management integrations for Square for Restaurants, which will allow orders from DoorDash, Postmates and management platform Chowly to join existing provider Caviar in flowing directly into a restaurant’s point of sale (POS), according to a release by the company.

Square for Restaurants now streamlines the entire process of accepting off-premises orders, like delivery or takeout requests, and enables restaurants to be even more efficient and productive,” the release said. “Additionally, restaurants will have a simplified look into their in-store, online and delivery orders, all in one unified location.”

Alyssa Henry, seller lead at Square, said the add-on will help with efficiency.

“Juggling different delivery platforms and managing multiple tablets is a huge pain point for our restaurant sellers, and now we are addressing this problem head-on,” Henry said. “Now all delivery orders, whether via Caviar, Postmates, DoorDash or platforms integrated through Chowly, can be automatically sent to the point of sale and routed directly to the kitchen, helping sellers reduce labor costs, food waste and other potential errors that result from manual order entry.”

Jacob Cohen, managing partner and co-owner of dell’anima in New York City, shared a similar sentiment. “With the new Square for Restaurants integrations, now any delivery partner can seamlessly become part of our day-to-day operations,” he said. “With a click of a button, the ticket is now sent directly to the kitchen, where the back-of-house team can prepare the meal as if it were any other order. And best of all, it allows us to have another source of business with no additional workload on our end.”

Also, Square for Restaurants merchants don’t pay anything extra, in fees or otherwise, to use the direct integrations, nor will they do so when future partners join. The integrations are also coming soon to Square’s free Point of Sale app for those that don’t use Square for Restaurants.
