Appear Here Monetizes Pop-Up Store Market

Renting out retail spaces in large cities for a short period of time can be tough to accomplish and expensive.

With rising retail rents in places like Manhattan, up-and-coming retailers are likely to sell products either out of their home or via online stores like Etsy.

One company that’s looking to help retailers is British-based company Appear Here. It’s an online marketplace that specializes in short-term retail rental space and has just recently launched in the United States in New York City. Appear Here is working directly with Blackstone and Simon Property Group to list available spaces in neighborhoods like SoHo and the West Village.

Appear Here seems to be filling a niche for retailers seeking a way to jumpstart their business without committing to long-term leases. Available to those short-term renters is a personal concierge, and landlords have direct access to demand and financial performance in real time through the Appear Here marketplace. Through the Appear Here marketplace, retailers are able to find and book a spot within three to six days.

Simon Property Group’s director of business development, Zachary Beloff, commented to Chain Store Age about the partnership. He said, “We believe that Appear Here’s unique product and community of forward-thinking international retailers, new brands, makers and independents will benefit from our highly engaged audiences who seek out and avidly consume interesting experiences.”
