Amazon Business Prime Hits UK Market

Ahead of Prime Day this year, Amazon is introducing Business Prime in the U.K., according to reports on Monday (July 1).

According to a report from Modern Distribution Management, the U.K. is Amazon’s next market for Business Prime after rolling out the service in the U.S., Germany and Japan last year. The offering links business users to delivery benefits like one-day, same-day and chosen-day delivery, while also connecting users to enterprise services like spend data analytics and procurement compliance support.

“Business Prime enables customers to get the most out of the great selection, pricing and purchasing experience on Amazon Business,” said Amazon Business U.K. Head Dave Brittain in a statement. “We continue to listen to feedback from our business customers and are excited to introduce these new benefits, which take the most business-relevant parts of Prime membership and add additional features to make life easier for organizations of all shapes and sizes. Our goal is to help businesses drive even more transparency into their procurement process, while ultimately lowering their total cost of purchasing.”

In 2017, Amazon Business launched Business Prime Shipping to offer Prime shipping options for business users in the U.S. and Germany. That same year, Amazon hit the one million Amazon Business membership mark after launching its B2B operations in 2015.

Last year, Amazon Business announced a collaboration with American Express to expand its Amazon Business Prime services in the U.S., connecting companies to the Amazon Business American Express Card and offering faster shipping options and spend management solutions for corporate users in the U.S., Germany and Japan.

Amazon also previously rolled out its Pay By Invoice option for business users. The feature drew backlash from some B2B suppliers using Amazon Business to reach corporate customers, who accused Amazon of facilitating a way for businesses to delay payment on invoices.
